Assam covid: 7 more dead, toll rises to 86


Yesterday, 2 deaths due to COVID-19 complications had been reported in Assam.

7 more COVID-19 deaths were reported in Assam on Monday, July 27, informed Assam finance and health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. With the addition of these 7 to the list of fatalities in the state, the toll has now risen to 86.

Today, COVID-19 related deaths were reported from the districts of Jorhat, East Karbi Anglong, Kamrup (M), Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia districts.

“Seven people, Tulsi Prasad Deuri (59) from Jorhat, Joy Singh Bey (59) from East K Anglong, Mevina Begum (26) from Kamrup (M), Dr. GMS Chowdhury (72) from Dibrugarh, Ajoy Mahato (35), Puspa Roy (75) and Dinesh Chandra Das (50) from Tinsukia succumbed to #COVID”, stated Biswa Sarma in a tweet.

In a significant development, as far as the state’s COVID-19 fighting mechanism is concerned, 60 more COVID-19 screening Centres are starting today in Guwahati. This is expected to provide a major boost to the state health department’s ability to deal with the pandemic.
